Soul Care 101

1Tim. 6:12  Fighting the good fight of faith.

2Tim. 2:22   Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

We naturally run toward evil, not righteousness, and we have to force ourselves to run after that which is good. Every person has a vineyard of our own soul. This is the most important vineyard of all.  Soul care  is on going in nature, that takes years of constant devotion.
Prayer, character, worship, and reading the word will sustain our soul. The ones who will hear the still small voice of Jesus are the ones who eliminate distractions. We need to keep our eyes on Him!!!!

You Have To Give To Live

No matter how you feel, we can be refreshed in giving to others. Older people wished they would have reflected more on their life, risked more, and had a legacy. What will you leave behind?  We need to have impact for eternity.
We have chances and opportunities in life that only happen once. Service is a honor.
We as servants need to be in right place to be used. Being ready!! Alert!! Available!!
Decisions still need to be made even if we are burnt out.
Give again and God gives back to you! We will be touched, by God if we are obedient.
We need to walk by faith not feeling!!

When Life goes dry

John 2:3 When the wine ran out. The wine is symbolic of joy. Yes, joy may seem to be missing in our life. We need revelation and insight. Which comes from being obedient to God. Being willing to serve.  Obedience leads to life. Performance leads to death.

Joy is a weapon. The joy of the Lord is our strength. We are at a disadvantage with no joy.
Life happens even in the presence of God. We will always have needs.
Solution - What do you do when you are burnt out?

Jerm. 27:11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future of hope.

We always have a future and hope. God has a purpose. Need to be an open vessel. Prove our faith.
God gives us opportunities that we think are not for us. Then we miss the move of God.

Don't dispise small beginnings. Are you ready for God to tap into you!!!

Helen Keller "Purpose" Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
You need to seize the opportunity.

Express yourself - How not to Pray

Can't play act as a Christian. What the disciples saw was a son talking to his Father.
Matt 6:7-8. Not vain repetitions, but in sincerity of heart with meaning.
Guidelines in talking to God.  Talking to Him from heart.  Having communication with God.

Connecting with Him.  It reminds us we need to depend on God in everything.
Luke 18:4-5. As the widow did.
God knows our needs before we ask, We need to know he knows. When you connects with God it changes your heart.  Powerful, humbling to talk to God.

Do you have a certain place and time everyday to spend time with Him as Jesus did.
It's sinful not to pray. We need to be encouraging others.
Our flesh is wide open without prayer.

Snare and the Fowler - God who protects

Acts 19:15. The evil spirits knew Jesus and knew Paul.  He watches us. His schemes are tailor made, based on the information we give him in the way we live our life.

Left to ourselves the devil will win!  God will help us!
He will take us out of the traps when you are in the net. God will help you out.

We need to call on God when we make mistakes which is a spirit of prayer. God moves upon our hearts.  We don't see what God does. He steps in. He protects us from a lot.

How many times has God protected you!!
God will lead us and guide us by the Holy Spirit!!

A Son and a Father - A Father and a Son

Proper leadership - Jesus using his power to call these men and bring out the best in their lives.
Contrary to popular belief prayer is not quiet meditation.  Matt. 26:36  Jesus prays in Gethsemane.
Matt 26:39 Jesus said sit here while I go over there to pray.  Praying to the Father , if it is possible let this cup of suffering be taken away from me.  But I want your will done, not mine.  He was not sitting quietly but wanted to be heard.
People, our children learn more from observation of our behavior than through some formal teaching.
We need to speak honestly to one another.
Live the word out before them. Talk about it.
Your relationship with your children is Important.

Christian, Are you ready to be a Christian?

But, but, but, they made excuses in Luke. So in ....
Luke 14:21  The poor, blind, and lame were invited. People who couldn't repay.  So the house would be full. Compel them. People that could not hang around normal folks.  Spiritually blind and lame.
Blessed people fail to recognize the hand of God! They become forgetful.
We need to put God first in our life.  Always have a dependence on God.  He needs to be formost in our life.  We die spiritually if we do not share our faith continuously.  No matter where we go bring flyers and give testimony about what he has done in your life.
Being involved with Christ is a lifestyle.  Drive of discipleship, man or woman that wants to be used. Its a Heart thing.  Having same passion, same spirit, like-minded. Be like Christ, but be you!,

Christian, Are you a Christian 2

Christians that say they are Christians, 94 per cent do not live Christian. We do not do Jesus really good.   We do church good.  But were not being changed. Healthy people never make excuses.  We need to take responsibility.  We are responsible for our own conduct.
Matt. 4:18-19  it was a radical decision, being sold out for Jesus.  They put Jesus first and left everything behind.  In that day and time they new what it meant.  That was in the beginning. Discipleship which is an invitation to participate.
Now in our lives it takes 20yrs to get to the starting point. Its always according to our terms.  We are not interested in the Kingdom of God.
What kind of Christian would I be if I didn't make excuses!

Are you really a Christian

James 1:22   Being doers of the word, not just hearers, deceiving yourselves.

We become transformed hopefully.

Rom. 12:1 Body as sacrifice, surrender holy and acceptable to God.

Jesus was a model of discipleship.  You have to get involved in peoples life.  We need to do what God is doing. He gives us an open invitation to participation. We can receive it or not.

1.  We have to have total surrender, leaving all material possessions
2.   Being taught by the master
3.   Totally available. Living life for yourself does not glorify God.
4.   Your occupation should not be your top priority.
5.   Relationship with Jesus is number one over family and friends.

Bullets or Blanks II

1Sam. 30:1-3 David lost everything.  Burden of leadership. After all the losses he finally learned dependence on God.  You have to get to a place where you let God guide your life.
Gal. 5:22 Walk by the spirit.

Prov. 29:18  When people do not accept divine guidance they run wild.
We have elevated emotions above God, God's will.  The truth about emotions, they can lie to us...they can deceive us.  Sometimes we put ourselves in places where we shouldn't be.

Get spiritual help, a pastor, a christian counselor, get a mature wise friend involved. You must have a working relationship.  You need to get help in the beginning of problems, instead of when you are on the bottom.
Heb. 13:17  Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel.  They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God
When we seek God's guidance for our lives in the daily routines, then it's easier to turn to Him in the real crises of life.
Matt. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread...its seeking God...on a consistent basis.

Bullets or Blanks

Most men would die for their wives.  The bigger challenge is just living for her, day in day out!
Sacrificing your life for her is not easy to practice, because it requires us to try & put her BEFORE OURSELVES!
We must allow Jesus Christ to live thru us.... TO ENABLE US TO LOVE HER LIKE WE SHOULD.
Mystery...of unchanged men...spiritual stagnation?

Malachi 2:14   You cry out, " Why doesn't the Lord accept my worship?" I'll tell you why!  Because the Lord witnessed the vows you and your wife made when you were young.  But you have been unfaithful to her, though she remained your faithful partner, the wife of your marriage vows.

Malachi 2:15  didn't the Lord make you one with your wife?  In body and spirit you are His.  And what does he want?  Godly children from  your union.  So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.

Is the Resurrection Enough?

You will face moments in your life, the most difficult, painful, confusing, heart-tearing, gut-wrenchinig, life-shattering moments....Where you will have to ask yourself, "Is Jesus going to be enough?  To see you through it all?  Because He's all you'll have.  Is the living God all you need?  Who lives in you?

We all have to face that moment.  The truth is, He is more than enough!!!

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles.  They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.

Honoring Mom

God is like a mother. Like an eagle stirring her nest.
Mothers inspire us.  Often it's a mothers faith and prayers, that stirs us to higher things.  Challenges us to leave our comfort zone. Grow up and accomplish something with our lives.
Mothers, Like God, they believe in us, believe we have a good future

Jerm. 29:11  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Mothers help carry our troubles and burdens.  How many times has your momma carried you and your burdens.

Psm. 55:22   Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the consistently righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail.)

American Greed

We have a responsibility to watch ourselves.
And He said to them, Guard yourselves and keep free from all covetousness (the
immoderate desire for wealth, the greedy longing to have more);
for a man’s life does not consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing
abundance or that which is over and above his needs.        Luke 12 :15
Greed is powerfully rooted in my selfish and sinful nature. It’s a part of our old nature, in
other words, it’s in you, it is you, its me, ongoing to have more); for a man’s life does not
consist in and is not derived from possessing overflowing abundance or that which is over
and above his needs.
We can not serve God and money.
One will determine the direction of your life.
Are we going to trust our life in the hands of God!

The Gift of Grandparents

Every grandparent can testify that if someone would have just told them that grandchildren were so much fun, the choice would have been made to have them first.

2Tim. 1:5  When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Grandparents should be a refuge in the storm. Grandparents play a major role in the Kingdom of God.

A. Never undermine your children's authority over their children.  You are not the parents.  Allow children to raise their children.
B.  Don't play dumb like you don't know what you are doing.
C. Never make fun of their rules. In an effort to be the good guys in the grandchildren's eyes

1Cor. 16:13  Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions.  Do not have the right to undermine those convictions of the parent whether you agree or not.

D. Never throw fits in front of grandchildren because you didn't get your way.
E.  Encourage our grandchildren to always remember that their parents love them and have their best interest in mind.

Grandparents give grandchildren roots. Grandchildren give grandparents renewal.

Stop and Notice

Luke 17:18   Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?
Notice how Jesus went about healing these men with leprosy. All he did is give them a word.
They were with Jesus but nothing changed.  He tells them to walk. As they went they were healed.

We still deal with things. We think something is wrong with us. Like in the book of Job.

2Corinthians 5:7  For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Walking with Christ in newness of Christ.  Walking in his steps.  Imitate His example.
In our obedience to God our life is changing. We will go through things, but God's presence goes with us.
Isa. 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you......

He's with us. We can make it no matter how we feel or whatever is going on.
Luke 17:15 One of them saw he was healed and turned around and Praised God.

The way to live as a Christian is calling on God's Grace and Power.
Environment where things can grow:   1.  Come to church.  2.  Give tithes and offerings.  3.  Read our Bible  4.  Prayer  5. Witnessing

We Need discernment to see God is helping us!!

Don't Pass Me By

Luke 10:31-33     The Samaritan had compassion. The Priest and Levite just went on by.
Compassion moves us.

Do we show compassion for someone in need.  Especially the elderly.  Getting old is normal. The world abandons the elderly.  Can't be bothered or are too busy to care.  Mindset is young and fit.

Isa 46:4  Even to your old age I am He. And to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made and I will bear. I will carry and will save.

Psm. 92:14  They still bear fruit in old age

So much money goes into trying to stay young. The Lord looks at the heart and the world looks at the outside.  Sickness happens.
IITim 3:1-3
We need to not become cold-hearted
We need to honor others young and old.  We need to take time with others!

                                                            Integrity of Worship

Taking flight - Handling our differences.  Unable to communicate.  This generation has a hard time working through relationships.  Remove any hinderance, we have to be right with people
1Sam. 15:22-23

1.  True worship is enhanced by better relationships.
Jesus demands us in doing whatever we can to right relationships.
Rom. 12:18

We need to think about how we have offended someone.  Examine ourselves.
What stirs our emotions, thats where your heart is.
We have a hard time humbling ourselves to someone else.

If we are honest with people, we will be honest with God.

2.  Reconciliation must preceede worship.  Unresolved conflict has priority and must be settled.  Unresolved conflict is sinful behavior.

Your heart must match your life.

Generational Revival

We need to talk to our children and grandchildren about God.  We need to love God and show them the way. They need to see our love for God in action.

1.  Keeping God alive in our hearts.  Spending quality time with god daily in prayer and reading His word.  That our family will come to know Him for themselves.  Learn to defend our faith.

2.  Danger is, we slowly loose fellowsip.  We take the things of God for granted.  Loosing contact.  We need to develop good habits.  Hopefully there is someone in the family getting close to God.

3.  Cause of loss of intimate relationship in Judges 1:28, their compromise became the next generation standard.  because they had never totally conquered the Canaanites.

What are your convictions.  God pours His Spirit on open humble hearts.  Live by faith.  In Joel God will pour out His Spirit upon our sons and daughters.

4.  God won't let every battle be won by a miracle. We grow through fresh battles.

According to Phil 3 we need to press in.

Forgiveness & Sin

Mother Theresa once said, The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved."
Everyone needs someone to watch over their soul.
Mk  2:3-5
And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

This forgiveness went deeper than mere domestic disputes. Jesus was speaking with a quiet authority which went down into the paralyzed mans innermost being.
Forgiveness is the most powerful thing in the world, but because it is so costly.
We have to find ways of bringing healing and forgiveness to our

families & others.
 Matthew 6:15
  * But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.  Proof that the living God is at work. Within us! ..

"Real Faith is Faith That Carries Burdens"

Text- Mark 2 vs 1-5

Vs.3. "Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.

\\ In this text a man who is paralyzed is brought before Jesus to be healed. The four men that carried him faced some obstacles to get this man healed but they were persistent and because of their faith this man was healed. Sometimes as Christians' we will face obstacles and our faith will be tested, will we find a way to reach Jesus no matter how impossible it may seem? These four men could have given up at the door when no one budged to make room for their friend. They could have stopped when Jesus didn't come out and meet them. Friend, being a Christian is more then God always moving for you, you're going to have to make some moves for Him. We need to not allow discouragement from people or from the circumstances of life keep us from reaching Jesus. When this man finally got before Jesus, he saw the faith from these men and the paralytic was immediately healed. They were UNSTOPPABLE! Let me ask you, do you have a unstoppable faith? Sometimes life will let you down, people will let you down, but you may be let down right at the feet of Jesus. Allow your faith to be BIGGER than your situation. \\
